Prepare for your consultation
Preparing for an online consultation
Recent blood test results guide personalized advice
For an in-depth online consultation, I prefer to work with recent blood test results. These provide a valuable basis for better understanding your complaints, resilience, and regulation. This not only reveals individual values but, more importantly, the whole picture: metabolism, inflammatory activity, nutrient status, liver and gallbladder burden, glucose regulation, and cardiovascular risk factors.
By having blood tests done in advance through your general practitioner or treating physician, consultation time can be optimally utilized for analysis, context, and personalized advice.
Why this preparation is valuable
During the online consultation, I don't just check if a value falls within the reference range, but rather what the results mean in relation to your symptoms, lifestyle, recovery capacity, and physiological stress. This coherence makes it possible to work more specifically on causes, compensatory patterns, and priorities in guidance.
This preparation aligns with the vision of Optimaal Gezond Lab: measure where possible, interpret where necessary, and then provide targeted advice.
Which blood tests are preferably available
For the most complete picture, I preferably look at the following components:
a complete blood count with leukocyte differential,
extensive blood biochemistry, glucose,
fasting insulin, HbA1c,
a lipid panel including apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein(a),
extensive iron study,
inflammatory markers,
cardiometabolic markers, liver and gallbladder markers,
homocysteine and relevant nutrients.
These values together can provide important information about energy regulation, insulin sensitivity, low-grade inflammation, methylation, iron metabolism, liver capacity, and general recovery capacity, among other things.
Practicalities
Have these tests performed in advance by your general practitioner. Not every GP will routinely request all values; whatever is available will naturally be carefully considered in the assessment. The more complete the blood test, the more targeted and accurate the consultation can be structured.
You can send the results digitally in advance, so they can be discussed in detail during the consultation.
Who this preparation is suitable for
This preparation is particularly valuable if you have been experiencing symptoms for a longer period, are looking for more in-depth information than general lifestyle advice, or want to better understand previous blood tests in relation to your health situation.
The online consultation is intended for clients who want to specifically examine underlying patterns and are open to a more holistic approach to health.
